  • building for your tomorrow, today!

On June 1, 2025, Suffolk Credit Union will undergo a system upgrade to enhance the services we provide to you. This will ensure safe, secure and reliable banking while enabling us to introduce expanded financial products in the future. Although many of these improvements will happen behind the scenes, we’ll be announcing new features and service enhancements soon!

Important Changes to accounts and Services

While our team has worked diligently to create as little adjustment as possible for our members, there will be some changes. You do not need to take any action, however, there may be some adjustments you will need to make to how you bank with us in the weeks following the upgrade.

Changes to Account Numbers

Depending on the types of accounts and number of memberships you currently have, you will experience varying degrees of change to your account numbers.

Most of your “new” account numbers will be some combination of your current member number/s and account numbers that you should recognize. However, there will no longer be any dashes, and you may see some leading “0s” or other identifying numbers added to the number you are accustomed to seeing on your statements.

For accounts with checks, the 14-digits appearing at the bottom of the check in the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) line will be your account number.

Changes for Individuals with more than one Member Number

If you have more than one member number, the oldest member number will be used for your new base member number for all of your relationships. However, your individual account numbers will retain part of the member number under which the account was originally created.

Changes for Joint Accounts

During this process, we will be converting Joint Share Savings Accounts that were previously created as a requirement for individuals who did not have a primary membership with the credit union but wished to be a co-borrower on a loan with a member. If you currently have a Joint Share Savings Account, it will be converted in one of the following ways:

As of June 1, 2025, your Joint Share Savings account will be renamed to Consumer Share Savings with the same joint ownership as today. Beginning July 1, 2025, you will now receive a statement for this account.

As of June 1, 2025, your Joint Share Savings account will be transitioned to a Secondary Savings* account with same joint ownership as today. Beginning July 1, 2025, this account will appear on either the primary owner’s statement or its own statement.
*The Secondary Savings account has no Minimum Balance Requirement to Avoid a Service Fee

Miscellaneous Changes

In most cases, your accounts will have the same or a similar name with the exception that your Regular Share Savings account will be renamed Consumer Share Savings.

Effective June 1, 2025, the fee for Returned/Undeliverable Mail will be $5.00 per month. To view our full list of account fees as of June 1, click here.

If you opted out of courtesy pay protection on your checking account/s, that option will carryover. However, you will no longer see the term “Opt-Out” in the account name on your statements or in online banking. The account will simply say “Momentum Checking” or “Business Checking,” but the selection will still be recorded in our systems.

If you previously elected Suffolk Credit Union to administer a recurring RMD for your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), beginning in June 2025, your RMD will disburse on the 10th of the month, in accordance with your previously selected distribution frequency. Please update your financial plans accordingly. If you wish to make a change to your RMD selections, please contact us or visit a branch.
